About This Spot

Mary’s Kitchen welcomes you like a longtime neighbor dropping by with a warm smile and a homecooked meal. Nestled in a cozy corner of Fort Walton Beach, the atmosphere here settles into a gentle, unhurried rhythm where families and friends gather around familiar wooden tables. There’s a comforting hum of conversation, plates being shared, and the kind of relaxed hospitality that makes you feel part of the community from the moment you sit down.

The pace invites you to slow down and savor both the moment and the food. Each dish carries the unmistakable care of a kitchen that’s been perfected over time-not flashy, but deeply satisfying. You’ll find yourself drawn to the hearty smells of fried okra mingling with the sweet pull of freshly baked pies cooling nearby, each tempting you to linger a little longer. Whether it’s a midday meal or a casual evening treat, the spirit here is all about those simple, soulful flavors that remind you of home.

There’s a gentle reassuring thread throughout, from crispy fried chicken that keeps everyone coming back, to their rich, creamy mac and cheese and slow-simmered chicken and dumplings that taste like they’ve been passed down through generations. The homemade desserts-whether a peanut butter and chocolate pie or a double stuffed blueberry cheesecake-offer a sweet punctuation to a meal meant to be savored and remembered.

What makes Mary’s Kitchen special isn’t just the food, but the feeling that you’ve found a place where the everyday rush pauses, and genuine care fills the room. It’s a warm corner of Fort Walton Beach where locals return again and again, drawn by the hearty flavors, welcoming smiles, and that quiet invitation to slow down and enjoy the simple joys shared around the table.

Was in town for four days and we ate there three times, only missed a day because it was thanksgiving. Fantastic food and good portions for the prices. The Mac and cheese is bomb. My husband had meatloaf twice and I ate fried shrimp all three times because it was so good. Everything we ate was good (see pics). For pie over the course of our four days we tried blueberry, chocolate peanut butter, apple crumb, and coconut cream pie. My husband’s favorite was the coconut cream and my favorite was the apple crumb. Service a little slow at times. Everyone is very friendly! We hope to be back :). Thank you Mary’s kitchen! So wish we had a place like yours where we live.

My family and I needed a family friendly place to have lunch and we came across this restaurant. The food is classic Southern comfort style. Some of the family had The fried chicken. It was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. The catfish is equally amazing which was light, flaky, and not overly greasy. But the real star? The homemade pies! The service was fast and friendly, and the prices are more than reasonable for the generous portions you get. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Mary’s Kitchen is worth stopping by

We were in the area and needed to pick up a rental car which was in the same business complex, so we decided to try Mary’s and we weren’t sorry we did. We went back a second time and the pork chops were a little overcooked, but other than that, everything is great and we ordered double collard greens always and the strawberry shortcake. The desserts are homemade as is everything here so do you a favor and please go by and tell them Loni sent you. Enjoy!

Dena was absolutely lovely and she took very good care of us.We had coconut cream pie and banana pudding to start our meal with because they looked so good. The chicken and dumplings was delicious and homemade. My chicken tender salad was fresh and the sweet tea hit the spot. I could tell that this is where the locals go to get good food. The macaroni and cheese is made on site and you can tell that everything is made with love.

Great, great food. I was happy to see that the Wednesday special is meatloaf. It was so good, and so filling, that I HAD to have some chocolate pecan pie too! We’re definitely coming back for more. The service was sweet and very friendly too. Thank you!

Mary’s Kitchen surprised me in the best way! The fried fish was seasoned just right with a perfectly crispy cornmeal crust. I don’t even eat hush puppies, but theirs were so good I ate every bite. The mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and full of flavor, easily my favorite side. The green beans tasted like the canned kind, so not really my thing, but the rest of the plate more than made up for it. The restaurant itself feels a bit outdated, but it’s clean and comfortable. Friendly service and generous portions made it a win.

Wow! What a great local find. Kind of tucked away in the shopping center, but when you get it, it's the cutest place! Lots of locals enjoy this place. Very friendly staff, excellent homemade cooking! Save room for dessert! The pulled pork sandwich was the freshest I've ever had. Would love to go back again. Highly recommend. Reasonable prices, too. Less than $20 per person on our ticket, including drink and dessert.
